Who _will_ the NYT choose to review it? My nominations are Richard Nisbett, Angela Saini, Jared Diamond, Eric Turkheimer, and possibly Cordelia Fine.https://twitter.com/a_centrism/status/1184989630237761537 …

Comfort seems to be a slow learner. Perhaps that is something that a polygenic score can predict.

Am I the only one who gets tired of the rather trite vocabulary in these uber-serious thinkpieces? E.g. “alarming” “grave” “troubling” “eugenics” “dark history”
-
That is the length and breadth of their argument: vocabulary. They use words that are moralistic and straw men rather than making an argument based on data.

That hasn’t been my experience. Most contention with genetic determinism is predicated on the lack of producing mechanisms for how genes determine behavior. This is important considering the field of biology has moved well beyond Galton and Fisher:
-
biology has intersected with biochemistry and molecular science at virtually every level of biology. Are statistical correlations sufficient evidence of genetic determinism?
-
I, among others, argue that it isn’t. We should practice epoché (suspension of judgement) until we elucidate stronger molecular conceptual frameworks for sociobiology before we ascribe ‘social’ traits to genes; exclusively or partially.

I am fine with you wanting to live in ignorance. But I refuse to live in the same society as you. So we will have to separate.
