Ok. A longish thread on IQ (Intelligence) & Personality. 1) I've stated on numerous occassions that IQ *AND* Personality are essential for life success inc occupational success. Your IQ is the horse power. Your Personality= accelerator/brake. BUT there is a heirarchy.https://twitter.com/newbury_eric/status/1182762615011008515 …

2) IQ is the single most important determinant of life success. Second is Personality, one Big 5 Trait in particular: Conscientiousness. The more industrious, organised & thorough u are, the more occupational success u r likely to have. The other traits matter too.

3) ILOC is not real. If it's anything (which it isn't), it's B5 Personality Trait Neuroticism. This measures sensitivity to negative emotion & emotional stability. Those low in Neuroticism are able to take control, face challege & remain emotionally stable i.e. have a "high ILOC"

4) Those high in Neuroticism are more likely to be emotionally unstable & more reactive to stress. The more volatile a person is & the more they withdraw ( i.e. NOT take control) from conflict & challenge, the more likely it is they will have a "low ILOC".

7) Personality is approx 40% heritable. So there is *some* room for change. BUT personality is most malleable in early childhood. A vulnerable time where the individual has little to no control over their environment. In adulthood, personality change is slow & gradual.
