People often claim that believing in genetically caused group differences in cognitive ability means some groups are "inferior," yet most would bristle at the notion that individuals who are less intelligent than Steven Pinker are "inferior." Why the double standard?

Charles Murray talks about a thought experiment he presented to intellectuals to challenge this idea. He asked them if they themselves felt inferior to those who were smarter than them. The experiment backfired when, opposite of what he hoped, they actually *did* feel inferior.

LOL yeah, because intellectuals value intellect more than other qualities. I think that is why it's so threatening to them.
