The obvious reason for this is that the old data aren't shared with others and in fact are generally lost to history within a few years. Scientists are a joke. One of my core research philosophies is that there is so much can learn about human behavior by analysing data we already have with better methods, and combining them in innovative ways. I feel like we focus too much on collection of novel data, which is inefficient.
