Isn't Caplan's fallback to talk of a global net benefit, even if (primarily western) nations loose out?
Best bet, but I think that one is false too because elites drive progress, and panmixia gives you fewer elites.
Something tells me the Professor (like many elites) won't be taking part in the mixia.
His proposal would be restricting the benefits eligibility of immigrants. This isn't politically or legally feasible in Germany and wouldn't affect increased costs for policing and infrastructure.
I guess this is a shot at @bryan_caplan and @ZachWeiner 's upcoming book?
Personally I'll wait for the book to come out and see what they have to say.
I think it's a reference to this prior discussion/thread.https://twitter.com/bryan_caplan/status/1174769627173289986 …
You need to compile them in a blog post for better citability.
Caplan cares about the overall welfare benefit (total world gdp), which increases bc people in Denmark are much more productive than in Somalia, even if they have low labor participation (which is mainly a political problem due to implicit or explicit minimum wage)
From a personal perspective the benefit to the average immigrant coming from Somalia is much higher than the cost to the average Dane (i.e. net benefit)
