That figure is 10K CAD a year in Canada. I think they actually get less in Canada. New immigrants got $8,200 the first year they arrived, back in 2006. It's higher now but no recent stats.

How do we help people in bad circumstances in other countries without settling them en masse in the West? I honestly would like to help reduce some of the suffering of people outside the West, being a humanist.

Even if it turned out that I'm paper they were a net positive in every measurable metric I still would not want to be demographically replaced by mass immigration
