These narrative reviews are not very convincing. Most of these are presumably tiny and old animal studies (sample sizes not generally mentioned), and what do we think about replicability of that? Who knows! I suspect lead is bad4you, but it's merely that, reasonable suspicion.

@gwern did you come across any particularly good animal RCTs on lead? I know you've been reading rat studies lately, so, maybe... In general, a large-scale replication attempt at many animal lab studies seems like a good idea (I'm betting on poor rate!). - 1 more reply

Maybe the causal relationship is already obviously true for many people. Then it gets hard to justify a RCT on ethical/political grounds. Just imagine the public outcry and media circus. But if it's so obvious then why not replace all the pipes immidiately?
