I think by the terms of the dbGAP they can't share the data. you could certainly request access though https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/projects/gap/cgi-bin/study.cgi?study_id=phs000607.v3.p2&phv=375707&phd=5001&pha=&pht=3445&phvf=&phdf=&phaf=&phtf=&dssp=1&consent=&temp=1#restricted-access-section …

It would also be good to see them actually address this request for transparency. If there is a clear reason they cannot share certain aspects of their research, then they could say what it is.

These various people wrote to us under several pseudonyms on Twitter and email. Since I know their motivations, I had no interest in helping them out. The data are of course public since it's NLSY series, they are just too stupid/lazy to download it themselves.pic.twitter.com/gdvBXq8frq

Just a reminder, Emil, that I have requested for the sampled data & code to be made available publicly in the interests of #OpenScience. If you’re confident about your work, make these available so that it can be replicated. Motivations of others are irrelevant.

Do you believe it's reasonable for researchers to only submit their work to review by those whose motives they trust? If those who think you're a pseudoscientist were to replicate and confirm your work and results, that would make those results stronger, and you more credible.

We had the NLSY code, the original request was for your SYNTAX (lol!) and R files to see exactly how you did your analysis pipeline. You can't say you support open science selectively, it's all or none. What are you afraid of?
