Thread. Even if you're already convinced that University of Pennsylvania's Amy Wax is a racist, @IChotiner's interview with her is well worth reading.

Why do you spend so much time reading about this? Seems like a puritan obsession type behavior. Like debating whether someone is truly saintly/devout or not.

I think it would be better, usually, to address the arguments and likely consequences of policies. Is X racist is no longer edifying because, as Wax noted, the word has lost almost all meaning. But, Saint Augustine really was saintly. End of debate.

I disagree about racism. Just because the Woke have abused it doesn’t mean they get to control the lexicon. /1

Or if I put that in plain English: I’m repelled by Wax’s beliefs, as are the vast majority of my fellow Americans. /end

I find it more correct to say that the vast majority of Americans are repelled by what they THINK Wax' views are. The title for the New Yorker piece alone was a gross distortion.

Yes, vast majority. https://www.pewsocialtrends.org/2019/05/08/americans-see-advantages-and-challenges-in-countrys-growing-racial-and-ethnic-diversity/ … After the Trump interregnum is over, you, Wax, & the other racists can ooze your way back to the dustbin of history.pic.twitter.com/Mx3jZeS26g

This isn't a vast majority and it isn't about Wax views. You get triggered easily. Have you considered another hobby or is the triggering-outburst part of the desired experience? Rhetorical question of course.
