OK I'm back from vacation where I did far more reading than tweeting. I did catch up on some of the twitter culture wars while I was away. The Taleb crap annoys me enough to start really digging into the whole human intelligence thing. Some initial ideas follow.
Beware, this is the path to becoming a researcher! 
I personally got into this by reading Wikipedia pages in boring high school classes. Being unable to figure out who was right from that I had to read the primary literature myself. Then I needed to teach myself statistics...
