Of course if punishing wrongthinkers is an end in itself then deplatforming usually works. But one hopes (perhaps naively) that deplatformers have more noble goals than that.

Not even joking, I wouldn't want to draw a lot of attention to myself in relation to controversial topics as doing so is dangerous. Which in itself supports my claim tha deplatforming is effective as a deterrent to people even thinking about certain things.
