I've noticed a split in studies: more family/SES effects on education & wealth than intelligence & income. Based on the stupid-kids-in-rich-families I know, seems to be that you can force them into college & bank deposits/inheritance but not into being smart or a degree/career.

Yes. Prediction is that when dull kids of high SES parents go to college, they study particularly dull fields ('X studies'). Parents trying to prevent regression towards the mean, perhaps with a little success, at least if
