My son, who is 14, just found out he got a 5 (the highest score) on his AP statistics exam. I now owe him $500, which I promised him if he got this 5, and an A in his Data Structures and Algorithms class. He previously got a 5 in both Calculus BC and Computer Science A.

He is vastly smarter than I am. There should be studies of children who vastly outperform their parents in math. I know his math talent is likely because of a very lucky rule of the genetic dice, but there is a small chance that stuff his parents did play a big role.
