This is why the term "unshared environment" is really misleading and unfortunate, as I tell my class!
Quite possible that a lot of non-shared environment is really genetic variance arising from somatic mutations. One terminology alternative: what if we just call it 'noise'? This seems like it might be intuitive in terms of the heritability (somatic mutations are 'noise in the gene inheritance'), the measurement ('measurement noise'), and elsewhere (random events are 'noise in life').
