People are often less tolerant of an algorithm's mistake than their own mistakes, even if their own evaluations are statistically less accurate and their errors bigger.

I don't know. I really don't feel like I have a great understanding why this phenomenon exists? Only some vague feelings and intuitions about it

Developing it a bit more: If I see someone get something right, but think they are a bit nuts (say, the joker), I will not put stock in their other predictions. So even when algos show they are accurate, ppl are suspicious of future accuracy.

I think some of it also has to do with journalist culture war against tech. And we see more opinions from the chattering class
