      When you discussed academics that have had controversies (1:01:08), another obvious one would be Lawrence (Larry) Summers. And it's at least speculated that his controversy lead to his resignation and costing a Treasure Secretary position.

      And I liked that @EPoe187 brought up that the point that the few number of firings and "lack of controversies" is only because of major self-censorship.

      Yep I suspect that might be true! This is why we need to run our study to find out how many academics are self-censoring and which views in particular!

          More generally, it is being associated with non-egalitarian views that people fear. Not just racism. Although some kinds of non-egalitarianism are considered more acceptable than others. For example, individual differences are less controversial than group differences
