It's a second order block. If you tangle with their supporters, and they link her into the discussion to tell you read her book, she'll see your exchange with them and then block you. That's my guess.

I had this happen recently with someone; oddly disconcerting to be blocked by someone with whom you can't recall interacting, beyond perhaps a follow. I'm left to assume that there was something in my (innocuous) bio or among my (rather tame) tweets that he disliked.
