All scientists have their political ideas. But reality doesn't care about our deepest beliefs, and that's why sooner or later it reveals new facts that make us notice the mistakes with the old theories. Science isn't perfect, but it's the best we have.

It's the best we have but it's under grave threat. It can now ruin a career to give the "wrong" viewpoint in some areas of study.

Well, I'm all for freedom of speech and research, but I think that social, sensitive issues should be treated more carefully. Freedom shouldn't be used like a magic wand everytime someone wants to sustain their irresponsible speculations.
