G varies in development. Its cognitive composition is dominated by attention & executive control up to 5 yrs, inductive reasoning and working memory from 6-10 yrs, and deductive reasoning and cognitive awareness from 11-15 yrs. Measurement & cognitive invariance are not the same.

Simply put, within subject changes and fluctuations in cognitive ability/performance have been woefully neglected, yet in many contexts (e.g. changing performance with sleep etc.) are the thing we care about - treating this result as trivial/expected is, in my view, simply wrong
