Does an academic who applies multivariate regression to small, non-random samples (e.g. n=23) and then justifies his conclusions on the basis of p values merit a post-doc at St Edmunds?

I have no problem with the use of small samples (although the curve in Fig' 2C is - fairly obviously - a figment of the researchers' imagination). I have a problem with people doing MV regression on very small nonrandom samples and then reportin p values as if they prove a point.
