I don't think scientists in general are into catastrophism as skeptics usually phrase things. One can find a few extremists, but climate scientists aren't predicting Ragnarok. They are predicting stuff like: 15% harsher hurricanes, -0.5 pH of sea levels, 50 cm sea level rise etc.

Do you think that the new UK International Development Secretary,
@RoryStewartUK , is irresponsible to describe it as a "climate emergency" and "cataclysm"?https://twitter.com/RoryStewartUK/status/1123867363013738496 …

Probably, politicians are not good at science, which is unfortunate as their decisions depend on getting facts right.
-
That's disappointing. I greatly admire
@RoryStewartUK and he normally illustrates a balanced and well informed view of the world.

what's with the really fast change in the last couple years?
-
Last 4 years broke a lot of records. Global warming is a general trend, but semi-random in the short term. http://berkeleyearth.org/2018-temperatures/ …pic.twitter.com/N4FA1jW0j6

Climate models are different from weather models and in general climate is not synonymous to weather.

We're coming out of an Ice age - of course it is warming. Only some sceptics deny warming (with some good reason, as NOAA are being sued finally for adjusting historical temps to be cooler, and the general scepticism of global temperature accuracy before the 70s)

The premise is wrong. Climate skeptics don't by definition argue there is global cooling. Some do. Some argue unknown. Others warming up to a limit. Others slower warming. They are united in not predicting catastrophe. That is what puts climate science in scam territory.

Isn’t that showing that the station data is much different from the model predictions?

Climate skeptics don't deny climate change, but its cause. I think. (I may have misunderstood your point though)
-
Yeah, I think that humans (and our actions) are probably contributing, just not necessarily in a "catastrophic" way. I just don't like it when things can't be questioned (rightly or wrongly). Climate change has become almost sacred; like a doomsday cult - scaring kids n shit.

A hit and a miss on this one. One of the main claims is that temperature datasets are fraudulent. https://wattsupwiththat.com/2015/08/14/problematic-adjustments-and-divergences-now-includes-june-data/ … Secondly, the property market in the (soon to be underwater) Maldives is doing great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9p51t2MHcms …pic.twitter.com/oyjC2C0iIN

Climate skeptics can mean non agreement that A. Warming would be a net negative B. That the changes are primarily the result of Human action C. That the people pushing the hypothesis and so called solutions are not doing so for personal profit or prestige.

Jeremy Corbyn's brother Piers made a good living betting on weather events. Does not buy AGW. These climate derivatives are politicized. ..rigged.

Is gambling odds a good way to tell if something is true or not? Pretty sure they base that stuff on the science soooo circular logic?
