In this case probably more that media create the stereotype. Most people don't personally know any or many scientists.

Yeah, probably. I was interested in mathematics before I knew about any mathematicians. I wasn't reacting to the fact that I saw that "men did mathematics", because I didn't know any mathematicians. I just found the subject interesting.
