Can we separate bias from misinformation? All humans have confirmation bias, an enduring phenomenon. However at this point in US history, Fox News cons are far more misinformed.

Factor analysis is the most obvious idea here, but probably somewhat affected by the included items. Still it should be possible to come to some good weighting approaches, eg by field size, general population interest levels, number of Wikipedia pages etc.
We have an ongoing project to make a new open science science knowledge test. Goal is to make 250 initial items, I think we have like 225. Need to then collect some norm data online and subset good items.

I'm sorry--my point wasn't that US liberals and conservatives differ in overall scientific knowledge. They don't. What I'm arguing is that where partisan media esp. Fox, have tried to introduce bias, US conservatives are more affected. Climate change is one such area.
