Domesticated dog breeds differ by only 0.15% of their genes – a far lower level of genetic variation than between human groups. In other words, “poodle,” “dachshund,” and “alsatian” are just social constructs.

Genetic variation between dog breeds (Fst metric is about twice that of humans actually (humans about 0.15, dogs about 0.30).
