Meh, this is what happens when accountants do science. Personality questionnaires are fuzzy telescopes, they only give a vague picture. E.g., questionnaires that are supposed to be specific measures of trait anxiety correlate as highly with neuroticism as they do with each other.
What is the structure of personality? What are the essential units? Most people assume some kind of OCEAN/five factor structure. This paper goes against the grain and argues for items (nuances) being fundamental.
