Self report has strong frame of reference problem as people judge themselves relative to their own group. If you ask Japanese and Dutch "are you tall?" You'll get similar scores.
Personality researchers tried to test national stereotypes against their self-reported OCEAN data, and found null or even negative correlations (!). Conclusion: stereotypes don't work.
