Without knowing anything about the study, I would expect there to be 10 unfair criticisms of it already. Even if the original was pristine in quality. This kind of finding is very counter-narrative so must be attacked on method grounds, good or not.

I agree that regardless of the quality of the study, it would have been attacked because its conclusion is unpalatable, but as it happens I think the criticism is justified.
