Emil O W Kirkegaard Retweeted Stuart Ritchie

Stuart doesn't appreciate people who work real jobs in private sector making society run while he plays with fun data in playground academia all day. If those people happen to science in their free time and have less impressive publication records, they are "a few losers".https://twitter.com/StuartJRitchie/status/1092194376829362177 …

Indeed, compared to the past, I think there are many *fewer* mainstream researchers (i.e. employed by actual universities) who obsessively research the race-IQ stuff. Social media just amplifies the few losers, who are usually "independent scholars" (🤔).

"Employed by actual universities" Can't compete in the market. Has to have the state point guns at others to pay their way.

"Independent scholars" in scare quotes lmbo The Royal Society's motto is 'Nullius in verba' - take nobody's word for it. Contrast the explicit repudiation of appeals to authority with the invocation of "actual universities" & the implied wasteland outside these hallowed halls

It seems that he’s just confessing that mainstream universities censor heterodox thinking and research, and prize uniformity of thought over the advancement of actual science. When everyone fears being labeled a thought criminal, only the brave think.

I might add: You get attention because the stuff you look at is more interesting. Not because you are loud.

He may not be familiar with the fact that "appeal ad hominem", "appeal to insult" and "appeal to authority" are forms of fallacy. This has worrying implications for the standards of his "mainstream research."
