For a thread on those soon to be proven more wrong about polygenic selection for intelligence in Ashkenazi, see below. Why the moral posturing?https://twitter.com/StuartJRitchie/status/1091457045235146753 …

    Emil O W Kirkegaard added,

    Stuart Ritchie @StuartJRitchie
An under-appreciated thread by @salonium, pointing out the endless problems--biological and epidemiological--with that n=53(!) paper on Jewish polygenic scores and IQ. Polygenic scores are (potentially) cool, but that study was just embarrassing. https://twitter.com/salonium/status/1089241709505101824 …

He was always a left-skeptic type. Read his old blog. I guess he just accultured into the Turkheimer-Harden school of leftist 'psychometrics' / behavioral genetics. https://timeoutofmindblog.wordpress.com/  Very strange Turkheimer paper: http://people.virginia.edu/~ent3c/papers2/Articles%20for%20Online%20CV/(52)%20Turkheimer%20(1997).pdf …

The issue is with the quality of the paper and its inability to provide evidence for the claims made in the conclusion & even the title, not the truth of the hypothesis (which the paper tells us nothing about)

Firming up the conclusions of the paper with a surer methodology would not disprove the methodological critique put forth in the QT'd thread.

I don’t so mind people running interference on what is likely to lead to an ugly bout of envy. That’s why there’s more attention to it than your typical low-N psych study.

It's a general feature of politics in science. People apply higher standards to conclusions they don't like. Somehow, the prior is affected by political beliefs. http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download?doi=10.1.1.493.3751&rep=rep1&type=pdf …

We already replicated this finding prior to publishing in a different dataset. Besides, you should use power to estimate likely replication, not sample size per se. The power in this study is actually very high because of the large effect size.

I believe in the paper's hypothesis but small N does seem like a valid critique.
