He was always a left-skeptic type. Read his old blog. I guess he just accultured into the Turkheimer-Harden school of leftist 'psychometrics' / behavioral genetics. https://timeoutofmindblog.wordpress.com/ Very strange Turkheimer paper: http://people.virginia.edu/~ent3c/papers2/Articles%20for%20Online%20CV/(52)%20Turkheimer%20(1997).pdf …

The issue is with the quality of the paper and its inability to provide evidence for the claims made in the conclusion & even the title, not the truth of the hypothesis (which the paper tells us nothing about)

Firming up the conclusions of the paper with a surer methodology would not disprove the methodological critique put forth in the QT'd thread.

It's om the way.

I don’t so mind people running interference on what is likely to lead to an ugly bout of envy. That’s why there’s more attention to it than your typical low-N psych study.

It's a general feature of politics in science. People apply higher standards to conclusions they don't like. Somehow, the prior is affected by political beliefs. http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download?doi=10.1.1.493.3751&rep=rep1&type=pdf …

I admire your one man mission to bring the replication crisis to IQ research.

We already replicated this finding prior to publishing in a different dataset. Besides, you should use power to estimate likely replication, not sample size per se. The power in this study is actually very high because of the large effect size.

I don't see the moral posturing in this thread.

I'm sure there's moral posturing going on, but I didn't see any in that thread.

I believe in the paper's hypothesis but small N does seem like a valid critique.

Someone mentioned to me that myopia is correlated with intelligence. Sure enough, Ashkenazi Jewish and East Asian populations have higher rates. Europeans higher than African Americans.

Funny how these things always seem to go in tandem.
