The specificity of the breeding is interesting too. You'd think it'd be done simply by making them holy terrors, but apparently they're really... nice? outside the ring. So selection for bucking but *not* general viciousness. Selection for learning to buck Baldwin effect?

Nature chooses the cheapest solution? I'd be curious to see a genomic study comparing the effects of this selection vs. ordinary selection for food properties vs. null. Similar to the Silver Fox study that recently came out.

I'm surprised the cheapest solution looks like "be able to learn how to buck really well in the ring but otherwise continue having a good temperament". What do the psychological & genetic architecture and the genetic correlations look like there, one wonders?
