Mean IQ by generation and degree type. Bachelor degree now worth about the same as high school from 1960! Too bad no data for PhDs, too few of them in these surveys to estimate accurately. The one I know did a PhD in physics (wind mills) and then got a job teaching physics at some random high school. 10 years of higher physics training to teach intro Newtonian mechanics?

I also know one hugely talented in their field who choose to leave academia after PhD - in fact could not wait to get out, and now teach in a good private secondary school for a simpler comfortable life. A loss to his field and had the pick of anywhere, but that's how bad its got

Can't tell if ur last comment is a dig. My son's HS is literally filled w/teachers w/ PhDs & (for kids) it's awesome, they [teachers] are awesome. & they're well-paid + well-respected. Pvte, privileged, school - yes. But this is surely something to societally strive towards, no?

My high school physics teacher 35 years ago had a PhD in physics. Best teacher I had: knew his content, knew how to teach it, and knew how to teach the literacy demands of science.

Why don't you just look yourself? These data are public. But you asked about moderation of age on wordsum x intelligence, not wordsum x age relationship. GSS doesn't have data to examine this question, you need another dataset, might not exist.
