Getting a PhD would cost me 100s of thousands of dollars in lost income due to opportunity cost (compared to private sector employment in tech). All to do some better educational signaling? To teach at universities that would never hire me? It doesn't sound very good.

Haha. That is true. The credibility boost would be useful but IMO not worth the time cost. And people with impeccable formal credentials still get harshly attacked anyway, so they aren't that useful. Critics just choose the easiest thing to lock on.

The first study you analyzed was interesting, but I don't think the second was very useful. Multiracial people shouldn't all be lumped in the same category.
