This is not his central point though. Imagine he is saying Islamists fundamentalists are winning, those that claim to share their aim but talk of a backlash are losing. Is he correct ?

Sachs is conflating SJW politics with equal rights for everyone. They aren’t the same thing.

What alternative does the right have but to cheerlead their own “success”? Admitting they’re losing the culture war is demoralizing. He’s mostly right re: public opinion, but that we “just have to deal with it” is wrong, and the idea that public opinion is correct is also wrong.

I agree that the Enlightened Centrists are naive about things. Not sure if it'd show in the data but the Left has screwed up in some sense by drawing such stark lines in politics the way it has. Their optimal strat would be to PRETEND they're still about individualism/liberalism.
-
Because with changing demographics time works to their favor and I think they tend to have an advantage over the Right in their practical/economic policies being a better sell to the general public. They lose nothing by pretending to support individualism while actually not.
-
But the important point he raises, that we've not benefited as much as we should have from the Left's missteps, I think is probably true. The Right's failed to capitalize on things for a number of reasons. There are lessons there.
