He seems to be conflating the slow changes to views on sexual preference and race where there are multiple variables responsible for such developments with modern SJW discourses.

If there’s anything those changes are, that thing isn’t “slow”. Things changed a lot in less than 5 years.

What specifically has changed drastically in the last 5 years?

Public opinion, topics of debate, levels of engagement in politics, content in media and propaganda, what’s acceptable speech and what’s not, what’s acceptable policy and what’s not.

With regards to those topics I mentioned before, those rates of change have happened pretty consistently since the 1970s-80s. There were stronger upswings in the 90s and 2000s, but the trend has been upward on measures like acceptance and tolerance.

I get baffled that 5 years ago there was still a comedy sketch in the major TV here in Brazil making jokes about people being “fags”. Nowadays they have a daily show discussing topics like transgenderism, feminism, homophobia, etc.
