Somewhere the author said the clusters had about 75% higher density than one would expect w/ completely independent axes. Lots of ppl took issue w/ the term cluster but in general a good study to show p(O) != p(O|CEAN) even after PCA.

I think personality structure is basically a big mess, and only shows weak structure, which allows for endless academic debates. I also think the observed validity depends on which structure is chosen, and which outcome. Messy!https://psyarxiv.com/4q9gv/

Yeah, one thing I liked about this study is that it didn't use the typical big5 scoring but instead maximized variance in that particular dataset (which is much larger than the data used to define big5).
-
More generally I think a reconstruction loss over questionnaire data is a bit silly. Should be a prediction loss over interesting outcomes. Preferably data is observational instead of survey as well.

Well, psychologists are big fans of theory, and also big fans of whatever data one can get from slave labor, ie by forcing college students to take surveys while promising them it teaches them Something Important about psychology (that you need course credit to finish a degree).

What’s wrong with theory bruh?
-
Theory is for people who can't code.

That is insolence!

Sorry, but what do you mean by "that clusters aren't if less variance is found within clusters! "?
-
Thank you! I'll read it.

I just took a couple big 5 tests. I don’t fit any of these 4 clusters at all. Only the role model has high openness but they have high everything except neuroticism. I have ultra low E, N, A and high O and C. I’ve always come up INTJ in MBTI and agree it is accurate.
