Is this a joke? There's tons of research showing that blacks, in particular, seem to do better when they are taught by a teacher of their race. Particularly black boys. I wrote this over six years ago:https://educationrealist.wordpress.com/2012/07/23/radio-silence-on-clarence-mumford/ …

In the news last week. "Greater representation can improve outcomes for students of color. So why are 89% of Washington teachers white?" https://projects.seattletimes.com/2018/teacher-diversity-wa/ … Next question, "Do boys perform better with male teachers? What are we doing about it?" Don't hold your breath.

One more question: How do Asian kids do with non-Asian teachers? Follow-up: Why would Asian overachiever graduates bother going into such a relatively poorly paid lower status and often thankless profession like teaching?

I went to a grad school teacher program in which 30% were Asians. And, as I commented one day, "every single one of them had really pissed off parents."

Pretty sad development. Not sure how accurate the cliche was that being a teacher was highly respected profession in traditional Confucian culture. Now shilling social network ads to a narcissistic public with attention deficit is what draws the best & brightest.

I'd wonder about bribes, really. When you see all those stories about famous Korean SAT tutors, for example, it's at least a decent shot they're just selling answers.https://educationrealist.wordpress.com/2014/04/07/sats-competitive-advantage/ …
