Considering the amount of bullshit that goes on in the programming field as of late, I have a very bad feeling about such a measurement. Just because the precise school you went to doesn't matter doesn't mean that there aren't other cliques that jerk eachother off.
A field's prestige dependency as a measure of the level of bullshit in the field. E.g. economics and their top 5 journals. Would be nice with a survey of this question by field.
