There's little skilled immigration from other NW countries because all of these countries have below replacement fertility themselves. But it's not true in any case. NW Euros generally are very favorable to skilled immigration, esp. from culturally similar origins.
And, presumably, because they're attractive places for the average NW European to live. So my guess is we tend to get entrepreneurial outliers like you, @albertwenger, @hlithskjolf, etc.
