There's one in Ukrainian similar to the crab one - kind find original - to the effect of: "If you can't have the apple, at least take a bite" (ie. so no one else can)
So, Scandis, Brits (2 types) have this kind of thing where you dislike people who do well and make up reasons. Probably agrarian origin. Maaiveld is literally translated as ‘mowing field’. When a field is being mowed, everything that sticks above the ground level is cut down.
