Yes. No, traffic violations is a different law. Penal code covers stuff likes violent and property crimes, as well as misc stuff like fraud.

Do these convictions usually come with jail time? If so, Denmark must be a virtual prison colony which I doubt. Something about these numbers are off.
-
Most penal crimes just give you a fine, or short sentence (like 8 weeks).
-
Guideline here states that e.g. a typical bar fight with fists will give you 30 days prison. https://www.domstol.dk/hjoerring/raadgivning/typiskestraffesager/vold/Pages/default.aspx …

So 17 percent of native born Dane males born in 1987 have engaged in conduct egregious enough to result in an arrest and conviction of some sort? Either an iodine shortage in 1987 or my impression of Denmark is really off.
-
Conviction, not arrest.
-
Granted I’m not familiar with the Danish legal system, but in the US if you were actually convicted of something in the penal code of some jurisdiction you were arrested at some point, or you might have turned yourself in.

Convicted of what? I doubt that 17% of Americans born in 1987 have been convicted of any criminal offense, and that's including the black population, so I have a hard time believing that many native Danes have been.
-
These are men only values. Penal code covers a variety of stuff, but not traffic laws.
-
After looking at some other data for the U.S., I'm less surprised - 8% of the U.S. adult population has a felony conviction, though only 3% have spent time in jail on a felony.https://news.uga.edu/total-us-population-with-felony-convictions/ …

Danish law does not have the same difference between felony and misdemeanor crimes. You can't compare that easily.

But diversity....

Find someone to argue that diversity in criminality rates is good. :p

For the US, for arrests (not convictions): "Nearly half of black males and almost 40 percent of white males are arrested by the age 23."https://www.brennancenter.org/blog/just-facts-many-americans-have-criminal-records-college-diplomas …

Hard to believe these white arrest rates. Does that include like fake college police and stuff, or what exactly do these people get arrested for?https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1177/0011128713514801 …

Tiny sample sizes at top end of scale.
-
The Levant countries Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria combined gets you a sample of 250 people with a conviction rate of 58%.
-
You have to throw out outliers, not average them with other outliers. They are probably the same gang that traveled from Jordan in the same lorry.
-
-
One should not talk in percentages for small sample sizes. It’s misleading. No, a randomly selected 28yo Jordanian immigrant doesn’t have an x% likelihood of being a convict.
