There were a lot of studies looking at the IQ differences between sexes and only a tiny proportion of them found an effect as large as 5 points. Correct or not?

Author's analysis indicate about 1 IQ of the seen gap is due to differential drop-out by sex, so ~4 IQ is probably best estimate for this particular study.

That’s correct, but the authors also note the difficulties for getting the adjusted estimate. Jim Flynn and us discussed the issue in detail during the interesting review process.
