Emil O W Kirkegaard added,
The point was that the extreme small number of actual far right people should make you wonder why we hear so much about them, especially compared to the ones on the other side which are a lot more numerous (ANTIFA etc.).
Extreme small number of actual far right people who are willing to publicly identify themselves as such, you mean
I imagine there are very few actual far right Nazi types out there, including the closeted ones. But no one has done a proper survey of this AFAIK, so it remains my guess. I had planned to do one but got distracted.
Would be interesting to include questions about people who were once neo-Nazis, but are no longer, and what political identity they transitioned to next. I've seen evidence of neo-Nazis becoming SJWs, TERFs (that guy who wears garish skirts), anti-Nazi activists, and Muslims.
(There is also a girl who transitioned from fascist to communist, but she claims she was just acting as a honey pot to infiltrate the far-right community, so wasn't ever a fascist really.)
Interesting idea. Hans Eysenck had the same idea many years ago. He fled the Nazis only to find that the people who would support Nazism were the same kind of people who later supported the DDR. They were generally just totalitarian, but the specific ideology was less important.
