as much as the next person who supports @HdxAcademy. In the case of economists, I think the think is in dire need of a big intellectual shake-up because caused by too many _right-wingers_ for many decades. It is getting increasingly left-dominated though. https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=664042 …pic.twitter.com/GPRsCybAVv
Meant to say: perhaps caused by too many right-wingers for many decades -- unworkable theoretical approach with strong support for libertarian-friendly policies instead of focus on empirical realities in economic modeling, e.g. assumptions about self-interest, perfect rationality
Awesome. Thank you for explaining that. This is why I've fallen in love with behavioral economics and game theory. The Richard Thalers and Daniel Kahnemans of this world have completely thwarted traditional libertarian economics theories.
As I recall, some of the behavioral economy stuff have fallen prey to replication crisis. I haven't followed the situation closely, have you? It's well-known by now that the priming stuff cited by Kahneman is generally unreliable/not real, perhaps most famously that font study.
Sounds like I've been in a bubble, sadly. I had not heard of any of this. I've read the traditional right/libertarian critiques. I'll do some more research but please share anything you have. I'm a big fan of Beh Econ, so it's super important than I'm not spreading false ideas.
Here's one study of 18 replications of behavioral economics. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?Db=pubmed&Cmd=ShowDetailView&TermToSearch=26940865 …
