Dropping users who are convicted of sharing illegal content is basic due diligence on these companies part. There's a high risk in retaining the user, with very low gain.

In totalitarian places, sharing anything anti-state is illegal. If one doesn't want to censor for stated pro state reasons, one can always just pick a random nonsensical law and enforce it.

By the way - my home country the UK does not have and has never had free speech. You can say it's becoming a worse state by the state is behind this and censoring, but reality is way ahead :)
