Instagram bans Tommy Robinson. Remember the days when they claimed censorship wasn't politically motivated? Those days are gone.https://bigleaguepolitics.com/just-in-tommy-robinson-banned-from-instagram/ …

Hmm what is illegal content?
-
Content related to ongoing legal proceedings, in the UK. That is what he was convicted of twice, and sent to prison for. Here is a legal assessment of the entire case as it stands today:http://bit.ly/2OO4cBF

But Instagram is US based correct? Do they ban everyone China requests as well? Everyone Venezuela requests? Do we take it on our ourselves to uphold all the oppressive laws of other countries?
-
Oh, did the UK government request a ban? Do Instagram honor those? I hadn't seen documentation around that
-
Whether they did or not is irrelevant, is Instagram going to enforce the laws of other nations or not?
-
Is removal from Instagram a punishment???

Like Trump did when he separated families and caged children? Nation of laws? No we are using our brains and banning hate speech
-
Because enforcing borders is nonsensical and the parents definitely aren't to blame

By the way - my home country the UK does not have and has never had free speech. You can say it's becoming a worse state by the state is behind this and censoring, but reality is way ahead :)

In totalitarian places, sharing anything anti-state is illegal. If one doesn't want to censor for stated pro state reasons, one can always just pick a random nonsensical law and enforce it.
