It is also interesting how the traditional developed countries have better performance relative to their IQ. Maybe it is due to institucional factors such as policies to support gaming and mental policies
I'd guess it has to do with individualism, which is high in the countries in the top above the regression line (USA, Scandis). You could try multiple regression with Hofstede cultural dimensions.
