      As far as I can tell, the driver is irrelevant to the incident; anyone would've been equally set up to fail by Uber's engineers' design choices.

      That's probably why the family settled easily. Pushing the issues means fighting Uber lawyers over obvious break of employment rules, and Uber does not want the PR. Bury the case is a win for both parties.
