The same way they contribute to physical differences.

Psychology is rooted in the brain, which is a physical structure. Genetic differences can produce differences in all physical structures.

that's not an answer to the question - psychology is not reducible to physical structure

You're changing the terms that I used. Whether the "mental" (as you previously called it) is "reducible" to physical structure is a separate question from whether (as I said) "psychology is rooted in the brain" and diffs in brain structure correspond to diff cognitive capacities.

To answer some kinds of questions it's necessary to clarify the concepts involved.

Verbal arguments can be assessed by the standards of logic and evidence. If they're wrong or misguided, you have to show why with logic and evidence. Just doing math and "get[ting] shit done" can lead to the illusion of understanding, as we see (e.g.) among economists.

I think "evidence" is generally understood to mean empirical evidence (as distinguished from logical argument).
