I've kind of wondered about this. Not just black people, but also Aboriginal and more traditional cultures seem to choose more unique and meaningful names. Then on the opposite end you have, say, Korean names. Like more utilitarian cultures use names in a more utilitarian manner.

Sounds like cultural war escalation. If true, this would be a cool metric to add to cliodynamic models.
