    If a student recycled assignments like this, they'd be failed, and quite possibly suspended from university. Meanwhile Robert Sternberg gets rewarded with publications, citations, fame and fortune. Also: Why don't journals run manuscripts through Turnitin during review?

    In seeing the people who are leading the witch hunt against Bob Sternberg, it makes me wonder what motivates investing so much time to try and hurt others -- jealousy? boredom? People wonder why people hate academia. I think it's not too hard to figure out why. Sometimes I do.

    If this email is genuine, it is a VERY bad move from . Surely a lawyer would know that "American jurisprudence" recognizes a little thing called the First Amendment.

    Rather astonishing that people who know nothing about the topic feel the need to signal said ignorance. Maybe read some research instead? Lots of great stuff on biorxiv.

    it's astonishing that so many scientists feel comfortable making precise prediction about the genetic architecture of, consequences of mutations in and population genetics of intelligence - a phenotype we can't even define, let alone claim we understand

    I think you miss the point here James: bachelor students would fail their exams/theses if they would follow Sternberg's lead and copy old material the way he did. Holding Sternberg to the same standards as my bachelor students is not a "witch hunt".

    Hypothesis: One reason conspiracy theories are appealing is that they create group cohesion. Those who share the belief forge a strong bond to protect themselves from all the "hostile outsiders" who don't share the belief

    Politicization of basic comms infrastructure (DNS, ISPs, megascale social networks) for deplatforming continues to be the fight of our time. These companies must be regulated as utilities and subject to common carriage requirements, as was done with cable and telcos.
