The public perception of being trans as a legitimate medical problem is the reason we have *some* coverage. If we undermine that so that people who aren’t suffering from dysphoria and don’t need coverage can feel more valid, I think that’s extremely foolish.

As important as it is to be able to live your reality, it’s also important to find a balance with that where you aren’t doing things that will harm the needs of others. And we don’t need to sabotage people with GD to validate those without. We can both win, here.

I need HRT on a medical basis. It’s literally the difference between being able to live a mostly normal life and being too disabled to care for myself. But the same medical establishment that spent years telling me to “just cope” with chronic illness doesn’t believe me.

The only way that I’m able to get the medication I need (to have life first and transition second), is for being trans to be considered a medical problem. I’m not the only one. Please, please don’t do that?
